MARSHALL, Mo. - The University of Saint Mary Women's Wrestling team competed in the Missouri Valley Open on Sunday.

Shyanne Griffiths went 1-2 in the event, while Teya Villalpando finished 2-2.

GAME FLOW

101-pound Weight Class: Griffiths fell in her first match, but rebounded in the consolation round against Ferrum College's Ashly Gomez. Griffiths took a 14-5 decision. She would then fall to University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Rebecca Forsyth in her final match.

130-pound Weight Class: Villalpando lost in her first bout, but rattled off two straight wins after. She would defeat Ferrum's Katrina Anderson and Adrian College's Hannah Workman both by fall. She was then defeated by Oklahoma City University's D Jaime in the third consolation round.

The Spires travel to Oklahoma City University on Dec. 1 to compete against the Stars.
