MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Saint Mary track and field teams competed at the first day of the Bearcat Invite Friday afternoon on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.
In the women's DMR event, there were two teams that competed for the Spires. The first group of Natasha Ortiz, Emma Campbell, Veronica Aguilar and Maddy Walter-Sherrets placed sixth in a time of 12:36.12, which was nearly a school record. The second group of Reagan Hiebert, Carlie Gregg, Gabrielle Moore and Riley Hiebert finished eighth in a time of 13:04.50. Both times were good for third and eighth best in the nation.
Alyssa Armendariz ran a personal best in the 5K – placing sixth in 18:12.47, which also put her at the top of the KCAC. Johnathan Bowen took eighth in the men's 5K in 14:52.59 to help move him into the fifth spot in the nation. Jared Stark would finish right behind him in ninth place in 15:09.71 – good for a personal best. Tyler Soliz placed 13th in the event in a time of 15:15.44.
