Spires Have Top Five Finish at Jayhawk Classic

Wichita, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Bowling team traveled to compete in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a top-five finish. 

 

After the 16 baker games and two team games on Saturday, Saint Mary found themselves sitting in seventh place with a total score of 4743. The Spires played two more team games before the top eight teams began head-to-head bracket play. Joshua Kacich led the charge for the Spires, finishing eighth in overall pins and averaged a score of 205.5 throughout the tournament. Dantoine Ballard had the next highest number of pins for the Spires and averaged a score of 183.6 on the weekend. 

 

In bracket play, the Spires bowled the third-highest score to help them move on to the final round of games. The Spires posted a score of 665 in the final round to take fourth place out of 16 teams.

Saint Mary will compete in the Bronco Bash hosted by Hastings College on Saturday in Hastings, Nebraska.
