Men's Wrestling Wins Comfortably Over York

York, Neb.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Wrestling team competed against York University in a team dual on Friday, resulting in a 38-17 win. The Spires are now 7-3 in team duals on the year. 

 

The Spires left the 125 class open to start the dual. Freddy Barajas (131) and Hartwell Taylor (141) won back-to-back matches by fall to give the Spires an early lead. After a loss in the 149 weight class, Josey Jernegan (157) won another match for the Spires by fall. 

 

Braden Headington (165) and Tanner Van Scoy (174) made it three wins in a row for the Spires, giving them a commanding 27-11 lead over York. The Spires won their sixth and seventh consecutive matches after Gabe Chesbro (184) and Ryker Blackburn (197) won their matches by technical fall and fall. 

 

Up next

The Spires will be on the road to compete in the Oklahoma Wesleyan duals at 12 p.m. on Thursday in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
