Perfect Score Helps Spires Sweep KCAC Women's Cross Country Championship

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The University of Saint Mary women's cross country team delivered a flawless performance at the 2024 KCAC Championship, scoring a perfect 15 points by sweeping the top five positions in the 6,000-meter race. This victory marks the Spires' seventh KCAC title in the last eight conference tournaments and propels them to the NAIA Nationals on Friday, November 22, in Columbia, MO.

Leading the pack, Kate Madsen took first place with a time of 22:55.18, edging out teammates Reagan Hiebert (22:55.19) and Riley Hiebert (22:55.22), who finished in second and third place, respectively. Josie Tyrrell crossed the line in fourth with a time of 22:55.31, followed by Abigail White in fifth place at 23:04.66, completing the perfect 1-5 sweep and securing the lowest possible score.

The Spires continued to show their depth, with Carlie Gregg (23:12.44) placing sixth, Monse Guerrero-Chapula (23:21.27) in seventh, and Shannen Dorn (23:23.27) in eighth. Additionally, Carly Holadia contributed with a solid performance, finishing 11th with a time of 23:54.98, while Gracen Glover closed out Saint Mary's strong team showing, coming in 19th at 24:16.05.

This collective performance not only highlights the Spires' dominance in the KCAC but also sets a strong foundation as they head to the national stage.
