Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Cheer team competed in the Dickinson State virtual competition on Tuesday, resulting in a second-place finish.
Saint Mary wants to build on last season's success, which featured the team's highest finish at the KCAC competition.
On Tuesday, the Spires debuted this year's routine in front of a crowd at Ryan Sports Center and those watching the broadcast. Saint Mary had a solid first performance of the year, scoring 87.36 and taking second place in the competition.
Their score is the highest in program history, and they tied for their highest competition finish. The Spires are now ranked sixth in the nation after their performance.
