Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Tennis team hosted the Evangel Valor for a team dual on Monday, resulting in a 5-2 loss. The Spires are now 2-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Doubles
The pair of Kevin Eutsey and Evan Maritz tied things up at one point after winning their match 6-1 over their opponents, but the final group fell to the Valor. The Spires entered the singles matches down 1-0 in the team score.
Single
Eutsey and Maritz secured the only win for Siant Mary in the singles matches. After two quick losses, the Spires were down 3-0 in the overall score and needed some momentum. Eutsey and Maritz had back-to-back wins, each entering the third tiebreaking set, to make the dual score 3-2 with two matches to go. However, Saint Mary was not able to get two more wins for the team victory and fell 5-2.
