St. Louis, MO – The women of the St. Mary (Kan.) track & field team traveled to Washington University's Francis Field and demonstrated their endurance and determination at the WashU Distance Carnival. Competing against a large and diverse field that included athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA institutions, the Spires delivered solid individual performances in the 5000 Meter Run.
Josie Tyrrell led the way for St. Mary (Kan.), clocking in at 17:14.60 to finish in 33rd place overall. Kate Madsen also put in a strong effort, crossing the finish line in 18:29.39, placing 98th. Not far behind, Abigail White finished in 117th place with a time of 18:40.83, and Gracen Glover completed the race in 18:43.99, taking 120th.
In a meet that did not feature team scoring, the focus remained on individual efforts, and the St. Mary (Kan.) women rose to the occasion, showcasing their commitment to competition in a challenging environment. Their performances at the WashU Distance Carnival provide a valuable benchmark as they continue their outdoor season.
The Spires will next compete at the Emporia State Relays in Emoria, Kansas, on Friday, April 4th.
