Leavenworth, Kan.— Derebe Carr and Serenity Desrosier Larson, both of the University of Saint Mary, were named the KCAC Cross Country Men's and Women's Runners of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Sept. 21-27 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 
Carr has consistently posted strong outings in his sophomore year, competing most recently at the tough Gans Creek Classic meet in Columbia, Missouri. In a field consisting of strong NCAA Div. I and II talent, along with competitive NAIA squads, Carr finished seventh out of 257 competitors, and helped the Spire men finish second as a team with a final mark of 25:06 in Columbia.

Serenity keeps improving on the season, as she shaved nearly 20 seconds off her time last weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational—both earning her back-to-back KCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Larson took 3rd overall in a field made up of both NCAA and NAIA talent. Larson continues to perform at tough meets, positioning herself as one of the top runners in the NAIA. Serenity has also proudly earned three NAIA XCTF Central Performance of the Week—continuing to add huge accomplishments to her impressive resume.

Derebe, Serenity, and their Spire teammates will rest up this weekend before gearing up to take their talents to Hays, Kansas on Saturday, October 10^th. The Spires are set to compete in the FHSU Tiger Open at the Alex Francis Track Facility after a well earned week of recovery.
