Taylor Calvert enters his first season as the head football coach at the University of Saint Mary after spending the previous five seasons as the program’s offensive coordinator. During his time with the Spires, Calvert has played an integral role in the development of the football program and brings extensive experience at both the collegiate and high school levels to his new role as head coach.

A native of Los Angeles, California Coach Calvert is a proud graduate of Warren High School. Following high school, he attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, where he played strong safety, started 14 games, and served as a team captain in 2004.

Calvert came to the University of Saint Mary in the fall of 2005, where he was a three-year varsity letterman and became one of the few players in USM history to start a game on both sides of the ball. He earned his B.A. in Business and Sports Management in 2007 and his M.A. in Education in 2011.

Following his playing career with the Spires, Calvert immediately joined the USM coaching staff, spending five seasons in a variety of roles coaching quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs. During his time at USM, he was part of two top-20 NAIA offenses and coached more than 15 All-KCAC selections and two NAIA All-Americans.

After the 2011 season, Calvert moved to Denver, Colorado, where he served as the Head Football Coach at Aurora Central High School from 2012-15. From 2017-19, he served as the Head Football Coach at Gateway High School also in Aurora while simultaneously spending three seasons as an assistant coach at three different schools in the area.

Throughout his high school coaching career as both a head coach and offensive coordinator, Calvert has earned numerous honors and helped develop student-athletes at an extremely high level. His accomplishments include being named a 2018 John Lynch Foundation Award winner, helping 48 student-athletes earn scholarships to continue their education, coordinating three top-10 offenses, coaching a 2013 League Player of the Year, developing three first-team quarterbacks, and producing 53 All-League selections. His teams and players have also established more than 50 school records across four different programs.

Calvert and his wife, Britney (USM B.S. '08), have two sons, Crue and Camden. The Calvert family is excited to continue to serve the Saint Mary community through Family, Football, and Faith.
