Spires baseball went 2-2 last week against conference opponent Kansas Wesleyan. The Spires now have a 9-15 conference record. They will finish with a four game set against Sterling College, as they sit a game back from making the conference tournament with four games left to play.
Cade Brummer earned the win on the mound on day one of the conference set. His game two win came after tossing six and a third innings with two strikeouts, and allowing five hits. Keeton Krause came in the seventh inning to earn the save, as the Spires won 4-2. Davon Poole and Patrick Swain led the offense with two hits each. Joey Stauss had a two RBI single.
The Spires would take game four of the series as well, after trailing 8-4 going into the seventh inning. Damian Marshall would lead off with a walk followed by a single by Dalton Dooley. Grant Arnold and Poole would both follow with RBI singles and Jackson Perri would tie the game with a two run double. Parker Clough's single was marred as Perri was thrown out at the plate and Patel flied out in foul territory, pushing the game into extra innings. In the ninth inning, Perri would strike again with a two out double. Stauss would follow with a game winning RBI single for the third time of his freshman season, and the Spires came away victorious 9-8.
