Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Women's Basketball Division I Final Four, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) hosts their annual "So You Want to be a Coach" program. With over 1,500 NCAA and NAIA institutions, the association selects the top 50 prospects across the country to participate in the program. The University of Saint Mary is proud to announce that senior, Imani Dixon, has been selected to the 2016 Class.
The "So You Want to be a Coach" program assists female college basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking and exposure opportunities.
The program is a fantastic opportunity to help cultivate leadership skills both in everyday life and in the coaching world. It helps young women prepare for future instances where they will be role models and help shape the future of youth in their programs. This selection speaks to the high quality of student-athletes we have at the University of Saint Mary.
Head Coach Bruce Erickson spoke highly of his student-athlete saying, "Not only has Imani proven to be a terrific leader in our program, she constantly works to be an excellent ambassador of our university's core values: community, respect, justice and excellence. She will be an exceptional representative of our institution."
