The Saint Mary softball team picked up four wins this weekend as they swept Southwestern at home on Saturday and swept Tabor on the road on Sunday. The Spires are now 23-26 on the season and 12-8 in KCAC play.
Saint Mary scored 18 runs on the day in the sweep of McPherson. Carrie Lee pitched a complete game in the game one and allowed just two runs on 13 hits in a 9-2 win. Nicole DeSimone paced the Spires with three hits and three RBI. Tycee Coplan, Samantha Villegas, Olivia Silvey, Kristine Ramos, and Lee all had two hits at the plate. Ramos had three RBI and Olivia Silvey had two.
The Spires won 9-1 in five innings in the second game. Jordan Petersen tossed the five innings and allowed just one run on four hits. Selena Ruiz and Coplan each had three hits in the game. SIlvey had her second two hit game of the day. Silvey and Ruiz each had two RBI as well. Five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning sealed the game for the Spires.
Sunday was all about Carrie Lee. Lee pitched two complete game shut outs for the Spires as they swept Tabor 5-0 and 2-0. Lee allowed just seven hits in 14 innings pitched. She struck out 10 batters while not allowing a run. Saint Mary scored five runs on six hits in game one and two runs on six hits in the second game.
Saint Mary will host Bethany for a double header at 2pm on Wednesday.
