Saint Mary Women's Basketball Upsets #18 Tabor in OT

Saint Mary women's basketball earned a signature win on Saturday when they rallied for a 76-71 win in overtime over #18 Tabor. The Spires are now 9-6 in KCAC play and 10-11 on the season. Tabor drops to 13-3 in KCAC play.

Tabor would hold an 18-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by six points at halftime. The Blue Jays pushed out to an eight point lead in the third quarter, but the Spires would trim the deficit to three by the end of the third. The Spires would have the game tied at 66-66 with 1:04 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Tabor would reclaim the lead on a put back lay up with 38 seconds on the clock. Saint Mary called a timeout to set up a play, but the Spires shot would be blocked. Candy De Los Reyes found herself in the right spot as she hauled in the block and put in a layup to tie the game with 11 seconds to play.

Tabor would get off two more shots in their final possession but each would be no good sending the game to overtime. In overtime, Saint Mary would score the first four points and outscore the Blue Jays 8-3 in the period giving them the 76-71 victory.

Imani White matched her career high with 32 points for the second time this week. White scored 32 points in a win over Sterling on Wednesday as well. White also pulled down a team high eight rebounds. Kelsey Switzer added 18 points and six rebounds. De Los Reyes finished with 15 points.

The Spires resume play tonight in Salina where they will take on Kansas Wesleyan at 6pm. Saint Mary topped the Coyotes 96-83 at home earlier this season. Saint Mary is currently tied with Kansas Wesleyan for fourth place in the KCAC Standings.
