Women's Basketball Beats Southwestern

Saint Mary women's basketball earned a 76-62 win at home over Southwestern on Saturday afternoon. The Spires are now 5-5 in KCAC play and 6-10 on the season. They sit in a three way tie with McPherson and Oklahoma Wesleyan for sixth place in the KCAC Standings.

Saint Mary would jump out to a great start in the win as the Spires outscored Southwestern 14-6 in the first half. Southwestern kept pace with Saint Mary in the second quarter, but the Spires would take a nine point lead into halftime. After another back and forth third quarter, Saint Mary pulled away for good in the fourth.

Candy De Los Reyes scored 18 points to lead Saint Mary. De Los Reyes has scored in double figures for nine straight games. Kelsey Switzer scored 17 points and pulled down a team high eight rebounds. Kiera Tate added 12 points and six rebounds. The Spires shot 58% from three point range in the win.

Saint Mary will travel to Lindsborg, KS on Thursday for another KCAC matchup at Bethany. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
