Women's Soccer Earns Draw at Southwestern

The Saint Mary women's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw after two overtimes at Southwestern on Sunday. The game was moved to Sunday after bad weather in Winfield on Saturday. The Spires are now 6-5-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in KCAC play.

Saint Mary holds seventh place in the KCAC Standings with five games left to play. The Spires sit a half game ahead of McPherson and Southwestern. The top eight teams qualify for the KCAC Postseason Tournament.

Jessica Ramirez earned her second shut out of the season logging all 110 minutes in goal for the Spires. Ramirez made six saves. She now has 25 saves for the season.

Saint Mary would get off 10 shots in the match. After being out shot 7-1 in the first half, the Spires mounted more of an attack with nine shots between the second half and both overtime periods. A crucial Southwestern save in the second overtime was secured the draw as the Spires just missed the victory.

Saint Mary will host Bethany on Wednesday at 5pm in Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium. Bethany is 6-5-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in KCAC play.
