The Saint Mary men's basketball team took an 89-77 loss at #8 Southwestern on Tuesday. The loss drops the Spires to 7-7 on the season and 5-3 in KCAC play.
The Spires played from behind for most of the first half and trailed by 10 points at halftime. The Moundbuilders would hold Saint Mary off in the second half as well as they maintained their lead to the finish. Southwestern is now 7-1 in KCAC play.
Teyvon Lundy led the Spires with his season high of 27 points in the loss. Lundy also had five assists and three rebounds. Brett Marsh added 18 points and led the Spires in rebounds with six. Demetrius Cady finished with 12 points.
The Spires shot cold from the floor finishing at 39% from the field and 25% from three point range. Southwestern shot 54% from the field and 40% from three.
The Spires will break for two weeks before taking on Drury University on December 30 at 3:15pm.
