The Saint Mary softball team dropped two games at MidAmerica Nazarene on Thursday. The Spires are now 6-12-1 on the season.
In game one of the double header, the Spires opened up a 2-0 lead entering the bottom of the second inning. The Pioneers would answer with four runs in the bottom of the second. Three more runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning put the game out of reach for Saint Mary as they fell 10-2. Kaila Trowbridge led the offense with two hits and Samantha Torres had a double in the loss. Carrie Lee took the loss in the pitching circle.
Lee bounced back to offer a strong start in the second game as she went four and two thirds innings allowing just three runs on six hits. The Spires led 5-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but MidAmerica pulled off the comeback with a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Torres would be charged with the loss.
Alana Renshaw, Nicole DeSimone, Tycee Coplan, and Torres each had two hits for the Spires in game two. Renshaw and Trowbridge each had a double. The Spires out hit the Pioneers in the loss.
