The Saint Mary women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win at Grace on Friday. The Spires improve their record to 4-2-1. It is the third official shut out of the season for the women's team.
Jessica Ramirez logged all 90 minutes in goal in earning the shut out. She made three saves. The Spires controlled the ball outshooting Grace 27-3 for the match. Erica Hornbuckle led all shot takers with six in the match. She put four on goal and scored the only goal for the Spires. Paige Nagy and Justine Brown each got three shots on goal in the match as well.
The game appeared headed for a draw. Both teams were scoreless in the first half until late game heroics gave Saint Mary the victory. The match headed into the 86 minute mark still at a 0-0 draw. Hornbuckle's goal in the 87th minute would give Saint Mary the 1-0 win.
Saint Mary opens KCAC play at Friends on Wednesday at 6pm. Friends is 2-3 on the season. The game is slated for a 6pm start.
