The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team lost a hard fought battle with Avila University Tuesday evening on the road, falling 2-1 in double overtime.
Saint Mary is 4-14 overall and 3-9 in KCAC play at the end of the year.
GAME FLOW
The Eagles got off to a fast start as Hannah Hill scored in the 5th minute. The Spires fought back and Molly Devine scored at the 38th minute to bring the score to a tie at 1-1.
The Spires had a couple chances in the final minutes of the regulation as Megan McMillen, Justine Brown DaCosta, Devine, and Natasha Webster all nearly connected after having corner kicks to try and score. The game would go into overtime.
Avila scored the final goal at the 102nd minute of the game by Eden Fridlington to end the game and season for the Spires.
The Spires had a total of 13 shots in the game as Avila had a total of 16 shots. Devine led the Spires with a total of five shots with McMillen right behind her with a total of four shots in the whole game. Lauryn Airy had a total of five saves as goalkeeper.
