MITCHELL, S.D. – Another tough outing for the University of Saint Mary men's basketball team, led to a 100-77 loss to No. 18 Dakota Wesleyan University Sunday afternoon, in the Hoop City Classic.
Saint Mary is now 5-9 overall on the season.
GAME FLOW
The Spires kept pace with Dakota Wesleyan early in the first half. Dakota Wesleyan went on a 23-14 run to take a 45-29 lead with 3:37 left before eventually leading 57-36 at halftime. Dakota Wesleyan shot 72.4 percent in the first half on 21-of-29 shooting. The Spires would continue to face an uphill battle in the second half, despite Cameron Southern and Edvonte Copeland helping the Spires to a 12-9 run late in the second half.
Dakota Wesleyan led by double-digits throughout and would avoid the upset.

- Teyvon Lundy and Copeland scored in double-figures for Saint Mary with 19 and 13 points, respectively.
- Saint Mary shot 48.4 percent from the field compared to 59.3 percent for Dakota Wesleyan.
- Raylon Howard, Dan Hailey and Brad Hailey each grabbed five rebounds.
