The Saint Mary softball team took two losses at Central Methodist on Saturday. The Spires are now 0-6 on the season.
In the first game of the double header, Central Methodist would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Eagles would add five more runs in the fourth to put the game away and eventually take the 7-0 win. Paige Stewart started in the pitching circle and took the loss. Stewart tossed three and a third innings allowing five runs on five hits. She walked three and struck out one. Abagail Gonzales and Samantha Torres both pitched in relief as well. Lindsey Fishman and Torres each had a hit to pace the Spires offensively.
Central Methodist would no-hit the Spires in the second game. The game would last just five innings due to run rule as the Eagles won 8-0. The Eagles scored two in the first, two more in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take the win.
The softball team will be back in action on Wednesday in their home opener against Park. The double header will begin at 1pm.
