Saint Mary Men's Basketball Falls in KCAC Tourney

The Saint Mary men's basketbal team saw their season come to an end on Saturday in a 102-80 loss at Southwestern in the semifinals of the KCAC Tournament. The Spires end the season 17-13 overall and 14-8 in KCAC play which finished them in a tie with Kansas Wesleyan for third best in the conference in regular season play.

In the loss to Southwestern, the Spires held tough until midway through the first half. The Moundbuilders pushed out to a 10 point lead by the 10 minute mark, but they would extend their lead to 20 by halftime. Saint Mary could not gain ground in the second half and eventually took the 102-80 loss.

Teyvon Lundy and Brett Marsh each scored 13 points to lead the offense. Darrious Denson added 11 points and had a team high five rebounds. Payton Meek chipped in 10 points as well. The Spires shot just 7/24 from three point range for 29% in the loss. Southwestern dominated the boards with a 47 to 19 advantage in total rebounds.

Saint Mary finished the season with a record over .500 for the 10th consecutive time. The Spires made it to the KCAC Semifinals for the third time in the last four years.
