No. 2 Coyotes Too Much For Spires

SALINA, Kan. - The University of Saint Mary football team struggled to get anything going on offense against a stout No. 2 ranked Kansas Wesleyan team Saturday afternoon, falling 90-0.

The Spires are now 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the KCAC.

Kansas Wesleyan posted 20 points in the first quarter and would continue to roll. After leading 48-0 at halftime, the Coyotes continued to convert on offense. Saint Mary was hard-pressed to convert on chances as Kansas Wesleyan forced numerous three-and-outs.

The Spires were held without a first down in the first quarter. Kansas Wesleyan's hard nosed defense kept the Spires away from the endzone and would come out on top.

Matthew Graham had 27 rushing yards for the Spires and Fred Daughtry caught three passes for 22 yards. Nicholas Holmes and Garrett Carter each recorded seven total tackles. Holmes also picked off his second pass of the season.
