Women's Soccer Falls To 25th Ranked OKWU

LEAVENWORTH, KAN. – The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team fell to 25th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University, 4-1 Tuesday night at Berkel Memorial Stadium.

The Spires are now 4-7-2 on the season, 2-5-2 KCAC.

OKWU offense was aggressive but the Saint Mary defense held them scoreless in the first half. Brittany Ortiz took a shot with just under three minutes left in the first half, but missed wide. The score was 0-0 at the half.

A minute into the second half, OKWU scored the first goal of the game. The Eagles would go up 2-0 with 36:07 left in the game. OKWU led 3-0 before Emily Wilson put the Spires on the board after a swift kick passed the Eagles goalie. OKWU would quickly respond to make the score 4-1.

As a team, the Spires took three shots. Megan McMillen, Brittany Ortiz, and Wilson each had one shot. Lauryn Airy had eight saves in goal, and Emilie Korenek had two saves in goal.

UP NEXT
The Spires will hit the road this Saturday where they will travel to McPherson, Kan. to take on McPherson College. The game is set to begin at 12 p.m.
