FOREST CITY, Iowa. – The University of Saint Mary women's wrestling team kicked their season off in the Waldorf Open Saturday.

With a very young team, the future looks bright for Saint Mary as all but one competing are freshmen. Two Spires placed as Karyn Larkin finished third at the 136-pound weight class and Allyssa Bettencourt finished fourth at the 130-pound weight class.

"The girls have been working very hard these past three months" Coach Christy Powell said. "With our first competition down, I'm excited for where we are headed. They are more motivated than ever which I did not know was possible with how much effort they have already been putting in with practice. I'm excited for this season, we have a great group of wrestlers."
