Women's Wrestling Competed At Missouri Valley Open Sunday

MARSHALL, Mo. - The University of Saint Mary Women's Wrestling team competed in the Missouri Valley Open on Sunday.

109-pound Weight Class: Brianna Mancillas lost in her first bout, but would rally back in her second match with a 10-0 score. She was then defeated by Southern Oregon's Stewart by fall.

123-pound Weight Class: Lauren Lopez went 0-2 on the weekend after falling to Lam from Menlo, and Wolgast from Adrian.

136-pound Weight Class: Allyssa Bettencourt fell in both her bouts Sunday as she went up against two good girls from OCU and MacMurray. Karyn Larkin finished the weekend 2-2 as she pinned O'neil from Campbellsville in her first match. She would fall in her next match and then pick up her second win with a 6-3 score against Padilla from Emmanuel.

155-pound Weight Class: Emilee Demann also went 2-2 on the weekend picking up her first win against Hechavarria from Brewton Parker and then fell to Rush from Missouri Valley. She snagged her second win of the day against Ramos from Tiffin, and would fall to Helm from Gannon in her final match of the day.

170-pound Weight Class: Jassmin Blount fell in her first bout against Schrull from Jamestown 10-0. She then picked up two straight wins against her teammate Megan Doughtery and Cortez from Jamestown. She fell in her final match by fall to Borden from Southern Oregon. Doughtery went 0-2 on the weekend as she fell to Sennett from McKendree and against her teammate Blount.

"Everyone fought hard today" Coach Christy Powell said. As a whole, we definitely improved from last weekend and we are all excited for our first dual against Missouri Valley".

UP NEXT
The Spires travel to Marshall, Mo. on Dec. 4 to take on Missouri Valley College. The dual is set to begin at 7 p.m.
