LEAVENWORTH, Kansas – The sixth-seeded University of Saint Mary men's basketball team had a tough challe-nge trying to match No. 3 seed Friends University all night Wednesday night, as they fell 84-67 inside the Garvey Center.
The Spires finish 2019 at 13-17 overall and 13-11 in the KCAC.

Friends jumped out to a big 16-3 lead less than five minutes into the game over Saint Mary. Raylon Howard, Cameron Southern and Tevin Killeen would help the Spires cut the deficit to 16-10 two minutes later. The Falcons however did not relinquish the lead as it grew to as big as 16 in the half at 40-24.
The Spires tried to fight back in the second half, but the Falcons would lead by double-digits the rest of the way. Friends held its largest lead at 25 with just over three minutes to play and never looked back.
Howard led the Spires with 20 points, while Lundy had 14 and Edvonte Copeland scored 10. Friends shot 41.7 percent from three-point range and Saint Mary was held to 25 percent from beyond the arc.
