Hillsboro, Kansas – The University of Saint Mary men's basketball team ended their two game road trip with a win against Tabor College on Saturday night, 72-63 to snap a three-game losing streak. The Spires defense played well as they forced Tabor into 27 turnovers, had 13 steals, and six blocks.
The Spires are now 10-15 overall and evened their conference record to 10-10 in the KCAC.
Saint Mary trailed by as many as eight in the first half, but continued to inch their way back with free-throws late in the second half. Teyvon Lundy scored four quick points to make it a one possession game going into halftime. After trading baskets and the lead, two big time three-pointers by Donovan Sinegal and Cameron Southern fueled the Spires as they were able to deny a comeback by Tabor late in the game.
Three Spires scored in double-digits, Lundy (17), Raylon Howard (13), and Sinegal's career-high 12 points. Saint Mary dominated in the paint as they scored 38 points down low and had 11 second chance points. The Spires shot 43.1 percent from the field and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line.
