Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Spires Fall To Hot-Shooting 16th-Ranked BlueJays

Hillsboro, Kansas – The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team was seeking another win during their two game road trip, but struggled to find a rhythm against the first place team in the KCAC, 16th-ranked Tabor College. The Spires fell 64-45 to the BlueJays Saturday evening.

Saint Mary is now 7-17 overall and 5-15 KCAC.

In the early minutes of the game, the Spires and Bluejays were going back and forth in scoring. Tabor got a spark and went on an 8-0 run before Dakota Corle ended it by scoring a basket. The Spires trailed by nine in the second quarter, but would go on a run to get the game back to a one possession game. Tabor however, had a hot third quarter and outscored Saint Mary 17-7 and shot 50.0 percent from the field. Despite a good effort in the last quarter by the Spires, Tabor's hot shooting was too much for them to close the gap.

Paige Scheckel, Sienna Brown, and Tiani White scored eight points. Brown led the team in rebounds with seven, and in blocks with two. Saint Mary outrebounded Tabor 36-29.

WHATS AHEAD FOR THE SPIRES
Saint Mary returns to the Ryan Sports Center this Wednesday as they look to get a conference sweep against McPherson College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
