Women's Soccer Falls To Baker In Season Opener

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team dropped its season opener, 5-0 to Baker University Saturday night at Liston Stadium.

The Spires managed four shots in the first half – coming from Anna Soetaert, Bailey Zinser, Emily Wilson and Hannah Day.

Baker scored the first goal of the game less than four minutes into the first half before adding another with 30:45 to play in the period. The Wildcats would add two more goals in the first half at the 26:33 mark and 24:35 mark. Saint Mary trailed 4-0 at the break.

Baker would score one last goal in the game and take the 5-0 win over the Spires.

Goalkeepers Emilie Korenek and Lauryn Airy combined for 10 saves in the match for Saint Mary.

The Spires return to action in an exhibition game on Thursday at William Woods University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
