HILLSBORO, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team had a strong second half against Tabor College Saturday afternoon, but it was not enough to comeback from an early deficit as the Spires fell to the Bluejays, 60-46 inside Tabor College Gymnasium.
The Spires are 1-4 overall and 1-3 in KCAC play.
It was a fast start for Tabor College in the first half as they outscored the Spires 37-18 in the first half. Saint Mary did jump out to an early 7-2 lead after Jerrica Johnson scored five of the team's first seven points, but Tabor would grab a 10-9 lead with 5:55 left in the first quarter for their first lead of the game. Tabor would go on a 17-0 run then on to lead 24-9 early in the second quarter.
Saint Mary continued to trail in the third quarter and would be behind by 10 points at the conclusion of the period, 46-36 after a basket from Macy Walker. Tabor's offense would continue to stay hot late in the game however, as they never relinquished the lead. The Bluejays held a 56-38 lead with 5:39 remaining, before the Spires trimmed the deficit to finish the game on a 8-4 run.
Walker led the Spires with 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Johnson had nine points, while Alex Specht scored eight points and grabbed a team high 10 rebounds.

The Spires are currently scheduled to be back in action on Jan. 27 when they host Friends University at 6 p.m. inside the Ryan Sports Center.
