Men's Basketball Falls To Friends Wednesday

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary men's basketball team found themselves chipping away at a deficit late several times, but eventually fell 81-73 at home to Friends University Wednesday night.

Saint Mary is 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the KCAC.

Friends would take the early 22-16 lead at the 9:47 mark of the first half, before Cameron Southern nailed a three-point basket and Donovan Sinegal connected on a basket to cut the lead at 22-21. Friends would go on a late run in the first half and took a 40-34 lead at halftime.

In the second half the Falcons built their lead to double-digits, but the Spires would have a short spurt to cut the lead to five when Macio Moananu made a basket. The Falcons later went back up double-digits and despite the Spires managing to cut into the lead several times – Saint Mary was unable to complete the comeback as they fell by eight points.

Donovan Sinegal led the team with 24 points and Brad Hailey added 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.

The Spires travel to Kansas City, Mo. to take on Avila University Thursday night at 8 p.m.
