Leavenworth, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary men's soccer team took on Friends University at home Saturday afternoon. The Spires were unable to find their offense as they fell 2-0.
The Spires now sit at 0-2-1 overall.
Just two minutes into the contest the Falcons got off to an early lead after a defensive mishap. This put the Spires down early and led to goalkeeperBlake Kuehl being subbed just before the 25 minute mark.
The Spires struggled to find that equalizing goal in the first half. The Spires seemed poised to make an offensive push with only nine minutes left, the attack was led by Paul Trejo who had multiple shots. The attack was not long lived for the Spires as it dwindled with just five minutes left, entering halftime down 1-0.
The Spires could not hold off the constant pressure from the Falcons in the second half. Allowing two more goals with 12 and 11 minutes left in the contest.
Trejo had three total shots in the game, while Shemari Hibbert received a yellow card early in the second.
