KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Saint Mary baseball team came up short in a doubleheader versus Hannibal-LaGrange, falling 5-3 and 10-2 today.
Saint Mary is now 0-7 overall.
Hannibal answered first putting up two runs in the top of the first inning, 2-0. Having trouble offensively the Spires were able to put a run on the board in the bottom third from a double by Peyton Garvin followed by an RBI ground out by Gilbert Rondon, 4-1. Entering the 6th inning Job Rains came into relief for Drake Pingel and pitched efficiently, but unfortunately the offense couldn't wake up their bats. The Spires fall just short game one, 5-3.
In the second game the Spires answered first from a RBI double by Damian Lomeli, 1-0. Spires making lots of hard contact are unable to find open gaps on the field. The Spires just score one more run in the bottom of the 7th to lose the second game, 10-2.
Rondon collected three RBI and two hits, Lomeli led the team with two doubles and three hits.

Saint Mary is back in action on Feb. 28th in Joplin Missouri to take on University of Jamestown at 12:30 pm and William Penn University at 3:00 pm.
