Spires Power Through Against Warriors

Sterling, Kan. - The University of Saint Mary baseball team took the rubber match of a three game series over Sterling College Sunday afternoon, winning 13-4.

Saint Mary is now 5-25 overall and 5-16 in the KCAC.

The Spires were able to strike first in the top of the second thanks to an RBI groundout by Oscar Osorio to score Jacob Honadel, 1-0. The Spires continued to push - in the top of the third and scored another run thanks to a RBI double by Peyton Garvin scoring Jarett Goss, 2-0. The Warriors looked to push offensively and were able to add three runs in the bottom of the third to gain the lead, 3-2.

Daulton East seemed have the Warriors off balance the rest of the game and dominated on the mound. The Spires offense seemed to stick behind East's dominant pitching performance and rallied in multiple runs to extend their lead over the Warriors, 13-3. The Warriors were able to earn one more run in the bottom of the seventh but the Spires were able to defeat the Warriors, 13-4.

Garvin led the offense with three hits and four RBIs.
