Flag Football Falls To Midland

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary flag football team hosted the KCAC Postseason Tournament Saturday, where they fell short in the KCAC Semifinals to Midland University 39-12.

The Spires are now 4-3 overall on the season.

Midland was able to get on the board first with 4:17 left in the first quarter, taking a 6-0 lead. The Spires then scored two consecutive touchdowns – one on an eight yard pass from Shian Galbreath to Daire Stelljes and a 10 yard interception touchdown return from Jerrica Johnson.

The Warriors then started to sprint away scoring four straight times to take the win.

Galbreath led the passing attack with 187 yards and a touchdown. Stelljes had a team high five flag pulls, while Johnson had one interception.

Saint Mary will host Ottawa University on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium.
