Ottawa, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary baseball teams fell to Ottawa University 8-1 Tuesday afternoon.
Saint Mary is now 7-39 overall and 6-24 in the KCAC.
Ottawa got an early lead in the bottom of the first, 3-0. The Spires struggled to capitalize offensively and couldn't cash in runs. The Spires were able to earn a run in the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI single by Antonio Valentin to score Oscar Osorio, 6-1. Ottawa was able to answer back in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead, 8-1. The Spires tried to start a comeback, but were unable to answer back and lost, 8-1.
Damian Lomeli led the offense with three hits and Valentin collected two hits and one RBI.
