Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team hosted the Bethany Swedes Saturday, resulting in a 2-0 win. The Spires are now 9-3-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the KCAC.
Saint Mary put the pressure on the Swedes after taking multiple shots and corner kicks. The Swedes could not keep up with the Spire's offensive output and found themselves on their heels. With under ten minutes to go in the half, Guilherme Caldas nearly broke the deadlock with a shot on goal, but it was saved.
Coming out of halftime, the Spires were still tied 0-0 with Bethany. One minute into the second period, Saint Mary was given a penalty kick, and Romario Harding barried the shot past the goalie to take a 1-0 lead. With twenty minutes to go, Harding got his second goal of the day, being assisted by Anthony Rangel. The goal gave Saint Mary a comfortable 2-0 lead and sealed a voctory.
