Emporia, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team played against the Emporia State Hornets Tuesday night, resulting in a 110-66 loss, heading into a matchup with Bethany College Thursday night.
The first half started slow for USM as the Hornets got out to an early 17-2 lead to start the game. Joey Schultz and Braylen Duncan got things going for the Spires, but the Hornets continued their offensive pressure. As a jumper from Deshaud St. Martin pulled the Spires within 15 points, Emporia State went on another run to close the half up 54-32.
As the second half started, Schultz and St. Martin made shots to bring Saint Mary within 19 points. Emporia State went on another scoring run to go up 70-50. Midway through the half, the Hornets extended their lead to 30, winning comfortably 110-66.
