Spires Bested By Braves

Ottawa, KS- The University of Saint Mary Flag Football team took on the Ottawa University Braves on the road Wednesday and lost by a score of 41-12.

The Spires started slowly as they were unable to score in the first half of the contest and gave up four touchdowns, putting USM down 28-0 at the half. In the second half, Saint Mary would strike first, scoring on the opening play of the third quarter with a pass from senior Shian Galbreath to Jerrica Johnson for a 66-yard touchdown. The Spires would score again in the fourth quarter from another Galbreath pass, but the defense could not slow down the Brave's offense, with the game coming to a final score of 41-12. Galbreath was 24 for 45 with 291 passing yards, while Ashlyn Tuss lead the Spires with four unassisted tackles.
