Salina, Ks- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team played Kansas Wesleyan in a doubleheader to conclude their weekend series against the Coyotes.
Game 1
Saint mary went down early in game one after the coyotes got a run across on a sacrifice fly. In the fourth inning, Brendan Roop would get the Spires on the board after hitting a bases-loaded single that scored Samuel Yancey to make it 1-1.
Bryan Fuentes would give Saint Mary the lead when he hit a sacrifice fly that drove in Jacob Honadel, making the score 2-1. Yanthony Navarro started for the Spires and went seven innings giving up two runs and striking out seven. The Coyotes would get runs in the seventh and eighth innings and take a one-run lead heading into the ninth. The Spires would not be able to score in the top half of the inning and lost game one 3-2. Roop led the Spires on offense by going two for four with an RBI.
Game 2
The Spires got on the board first in game two when Keaton Herron was walked with the bases loaded, giving Saint Mary a 1-0 lead. Starter Peyton Garvin would go all seven innings for the Spires giving up no runs, four hits, and striking out six batters.
Herron would help the Spires out again in the sixth inning after a bunt with the bases loaded scored Kawika Hubbell to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, the bases were still loaded, and Alex Guevara got walked, bringing in the third and final run for the Spires. Saint Mary would go on to win the last game of the series 3-0. Herron led the Spires in game two, going one for two with an RBI.
