Women's Soccer Ties McPherson 2-2

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team took on the McPherson Bulldogs for a mid-week matchup that resulted in a 2-2 draw. The Spire's overall record is now 0-6-1 and 0-1-1 in conference play.

The game started fast with a quick score by the Bulldogs that put them up 1-0. The Spires answered with increase offensive pressure as Katy St. Martin and Kelsey Ray took shots of their own that did not find the back of the net. Carina Cox held strong with under ten minutes to go in the half with a key save.

Saint Mary kept up the offensive pressure as St. Martin put the Spires on the board with a goal that tied the score at 1-1. McPherson responded 20 minutes later with a goal that gave them a 2-1 lead. Shortly after, Saint Mary found the back of the net as Kylie Wilson tied the game up at 2-2. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead late, but the goalies stepped up to end the game in a 2-2 tie. Kaylee Shaw led the team with four shots, while Maea Ploetz and Carina Cox combined for seven saves.
