Bartlesville, Okla.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team took on Oklahoma Wesleyan University for a mid-week matchup that resulted in a 2-6 loss. The Spire's overall record is now 4-3-2 and 1-2-1 in conference play.
The Eagles got on the board first as they scored fifteen minutes into the game, giving them the early 1-0 lead. The Eagles scored two more goals before halftime to make the score 3-0. Shots by Homero Gonzalez and Jan Stachura could not find the back of the net in the first half.
Oklahoma Wesleyan picked up right where they left off as they scored twice within the first five minutes of the second half to put the score at 5-0. Saint Mary eventually responded twenty minutes later after Ramiro Vasquez found the back of the net for the Spires to make the score 5-1. The Eagle scored again five minutes later, and a late goal by Alvaro Mercado made the score 6-2 with just under ten minutes to play.
