Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Swimming team hosted multiple programs for the Spire Relays on Saturday. The women took second place, just four points behind the College of Saint Mary.
In the three-by-100-yard freestyle, the Spire relay team of Reagan Baird, Kaelyn Lowery, and Ayla Pierce swam a 3:12.01 and took first place to open the day. The next first-place finish for the Spires was the 800-yard freestyle team of Olivia Ringle, Sarah Smith, Neena Lorenz, and Pierce. The relay team swam a time of 8:49.69 and beat the CSM team by more than four seconds. The third win of the meet was from the 100-yard freestyle relay group of Sydney Jones, Ainsley Duell, Reagan Salsbury, and Pierce. They combined for a time of 52.39 to narrowly outswim Nebraska Wesleyan. The Spire's final first-place finish of the meet came from the three-by-500-yard 1500 freestyle relay. Lorenz, Ringle, and Kelsey Taylor finished with a time of 17:37.84, almost fifteen seconds before the second-place Flames.
