Women's Swim Takes First in Kansas Collegiate Showcase

Wichita, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Swim team competed in the two-day Kansas Collegiate Showcase this weekend in Wichita, resulting in a first-place finish.

The Spires had two swimmers with 30 or more points on the weekend. Ayla Pierce won the 200-yard individual medley and the 1000-yard freestyle events and took second in the 400-yard individual medley, totaling 31 points. Pierce also helped her team in multiple different relay events. Reagan Baird was the other major contributor to the team's win with 31 points, taking first place in the 100-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle, and 100-yard freestyle. Baird was also a key swimmer in four relays throughout the weekend.

Head Coach David Bresser had this to say about his programs this weekend, "Our depth and team effort is what led to the team wins, and it was a great meet to prepare for our mid-season meet in two weeks at the Eagle Invite in Oklahoma. This weekend showed everyone what it was like to swim in numerous events over two days of competition. While we were tired from a hard week of practice, many stepped up to swim well. I look forward to seeing what we can do in two weeks."
