Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Wrestling hosted the Graceland Yellowjackets, resulting in a 23-25 loss. The Spires are 0-1 in duals to start the season.
In the opening match at 125 pounds, Brody Gee pinned his opponent with a few seconds left in the first period. At 133, Roman De La Cruz defeated his opponent 8-6 in a hard-fought match. Hartwell Taylor won by tech fall against his opponent at 141 pounds. In the 149-pound weight class, Austin Almaguer submitted his opponent in the opening seconds of the first period. The Yellowjackets took the 157, 165, 174, and 184-pound matches. Rkyer Blackburn won the 197-pound match on points. The Spires did not have a heavyweight, leaving the class open and forfeiting six points, proving costly with the two-point loss.
