Salina, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team traveled to Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday night, winning 1-0. The Spires now have an overall record of 4-2-3 and a 4-0-2 record in conference play. While still not having a loss in conference games, they are off to the best start in the program's history.
Saint Mary took time to get on the attack as they did not have a shot until the 14th minute, courtesy of Abbie Rodgers. Kansas Wesleyan responded with shot attempts of their own later in the first half. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie after each team went back and forth. The Spires came out in the second half and answered the call with a goal by Nanako Hallier. It was Hallier's first goal of the season and her first as a Spire. Kansas Wesleyan could not get on the board, although they outshot the Spires 14-5. Goalie Marisol Vargas came up big with five saves on the night. The game would end in a 1-0 Saint Mary win.
