Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spires Fall to Park 1-0

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team hosted Park University on Wednesday night, resulting in a 1-0 loss. The Spires are now 0-2-2 overall on the year. 

 

Saint Mary got two shots in the first ten minutes of the contest from Jashil Vithal and Romario Harding. Park also had their fair share of scoring opportunities early in the first half. Goalie Come Grieu racked up five saves in the half to keep the game tied at 0-0 heading into the break. 

 

Guilherme Caldas and Anthony Rangel nearly broke through for the first goal of the game in the first fifteen minutes of the half. The Pirates then countered with an offensive push of their own and got on the board in the 61st minute to take a 1-0 lead. As the half continued, The Spires came close multiple times to tie the game at one apiece, including a shot from Gustavo Frietas that hit the crossbar. Saint Mary could not find the back of the net as time expired, losing 1-0. 

 

Up Next

The Spires will host Kansas Christian College at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium.
