(Leavenworth, Kan) - The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team fought hard on their home court but ultimately fell 79-56 to the College of the Ozarks. A promising start saw the Spires lead 20-17 at the end of the first quarter, but a challenging second quarter allowed the Bobcats to gain momentum, outscoring Saint Mary 24-11 and never looking back.
Alanis Delgado led the Spires with 15 points, shooting 3-of-8 from three-point range. Addison Tower contributed six points off the bench, including two three-pointers, and provided valuable support in rebounding with five boards. Addison Schletzbaum also played well, chipping in nine points on 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
While the Spires fought hard, shooting struggles ultimately impacted the game. Saint Mary shot just 29.7% from the field, compared to College of the Ozarks' 47%. The Bobcats also dominated the rebounding battle, pulling down 42 rebounds to the Spires' 31, which helped them capitalize on second-chance opportunities and maintain control throughout the game.
Key defensive performances included five steals and four blocks by the Spires, showing hustle and defensive effort. However, the Bobcats' inside presence, led by Susanna Moran's impressive 27-point, 16-rebound double-double, was too much to overcome. Logan Jones also contributed significantly for the Bobcats with 19 points.
